17.4. Filling of a tank of the main brake cylinder
THE GENERAL DATA

The prevention

It is forbidden to apply the brake liquids made on a mineral basis. It is not necessary to use also capacities in which mineral oils, mineral brake liquids or water contained. The impurity of mineral oil or a liquid will lead to swelling and failure of rubber consolidations. Water hit will cause decrease in temperature of boiling of a brake liquid and refusal of brake system at intensive braking. Capacities with a brake liquid should be stored tightly closed and at opening to protect from dirt and water hit. Level of a brake liquid in a tank of the main cylinder should be supported constantly in norm. It provides normal work of a hydrodrive and excludes air and moisture hit in system. However it is not necessary to overflow a tank as the brake liquid should have expansion possibility at heating from heat allocated in brake mechanisms and radiated by the engine.


The tank is located on the main brake cylinder: under a cowl at the left on a forward board of the Body. Before opening a tank cover, it should be wiped carefully from a dirt. To open a cover and to finish level of a brake liquid to norm, being guided by a label outside of a tank. It is recommended to apply a brake liquid of mark Delco Supreme N11 or equivalent to it. It is authorised to apply a brake liquid only type "DOT 3".
